Sorry if this is belated - not always able to get on th't internet - I am sure this will have been been mentioned at a meeting, but I would like to thank Bob for the exemplary manner in which he dealt with our departure from the White Hart. - just right, well done. Top | Home paddy 11/03/2016 Sunny afternoon. Hi everyone. We agreed on Wednesday to play the intro for four bars only (singing boom boom in place of the bass) and agreed for me to write a short ending, so I have amended Sunny Afternoon accordingly. The outro is just the same as the intro, but ends on a single strum of Am7, the chord the Kinks would end on if they played it in this key. It tidies it up and gives a definite finish. Thanks, Paddy. I hope many of you will be able to be there to showcase just how much we have come on as a Happy Band Jacq Hi All, . . . There will be a strange bearded man in your midst for this one, who will just have flown into town a couple of days earlier. May be wearing a hat with corks suspended from the brim, and greating everyone with a hearty "G'day mate". If you bump into him, please make this quasi antipodean welcome, however he should be restrained if he tries to insist on playing Walzing Matilda in the key of E (or any other key for that matter!). Cheers, Robin. robin hardy - 24-03-16 Welcome in cobber, sit youself down and have a tinny! tony dawes - 24-03-16 I thought the correct usage was 'knock a scab off a tinny'. andy stanton - 24-03-16 G'day strange bearded man. I definitely won't restrain you if you break into a spontaneous quasi antipodean version of Waltzing Matilda as long as it is in any key but the key of C. Rock on. But these little challenges :) How to get a single page from a pdf song book. 1. Print off the single page in question. 2. Scan the printout. 3. Incorporate the scanned image in a word document. 4. Save the word document in pdf format. Simples! andy stanton - 25-03-16 I copied text from PDF song book, pasted into word and saved as a pdf. That gave me and image on a PDF. But I wanted text to make a PRO. file. I had to OCR the image. :) J jefft - 25-03-16 Well, there you are! andy stanton - 25-03-16 What language is the above written in. Is it technerd speak or Swahili? I don't understand it but it seems to get things done! Well done chaps, keep up the good work. tony dawes - 26-03-16 Thank you, Tony. andy stanton - 27-03-16 Top | Home bob cawson 28/03/2016 This weeks play list is on the site. Some from the County Show/Allington Play List and others a "Mish Mash". We don't have much of a selection of "English Songs" in our repertoire so that idea will probably be a non-starter for Allington. I suggest we attempt "The Village Green Preservation Society" (sheet in the Other Song Lists) and from the Lincoln 2016 Song Book "King of the Road", Da Doo Ron Ron" and "Return to Sender" and any others you might wish to have a crack at - just bring the book along. We are also short of numbers for some of the forthcoming gigs, please consult your diaries and those who haven't done so let me know your availability - preferably by this coming Thursday. Top | Home paddy 29/03/2016 Space Oddity from the Lincoln 2016 book. Anybody tried it yet? I just tried it and it's wonderful. I feel inspired. Paddy. Awsome amount of work going on there Jeff. It is very much appreciated. Tony tony dawes - 31-03-16 I echo that echo. We are going to become a Kinks tribute band then. Have a look and this organisations webpage. They recently organised a weekend event in Gainsborough. Organisation is called FOAOTMAD – Friends of American Old Time Music and Dance. Enjoyable session as usual yesterday. Regards David Top | Home davidmc 31/03/2016 I would like to suggest a great song for our repertoire, some of you may remeber it, it went: Went to a fortune teller To have my fortune read I didn't know what to tell her I had a dizzy feeling in my head She took a hold on my palm She said, "Son, you feel kind of warm" And then she looked into a crystal ball She said, "You're in love" .........and so on. First released in 1962 and subsequently by many other notables including the Stones, the Who the Hollies and most recently by by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss. It is of course The Fortune Teller. Would you have the time Jeff to insert this in our portfolio? Regards David Along similar lines was "Love Potion number 9"and "Poison Ivy" tony dawes - 31-03-16 Both also good songs of the period. The good thing about Fortune Teller is that it can be played with the same 3 chord groove or pattern over each line all the way through. Two beats on D, two beats on C and four beats on A ad nauseam (or G, F, D if you like). I think we should perhaps be able to manage that without looking. We could smile and appear happy!
