Good to see you all again, and, finally agreeing which songs we play and don't play. I think we have made the right choices and perhaps more importantly have collectively agreed on the  tempo one or two of the songs need to be played at. It is so much better when we can all make a contribution to find what works best for the group. Please continue to play your part in the running of our Happy Band!
Now for those of you not there today we agreed to drop The Little Drummer Boy and substitute White Christmas, and, Singing the Blues for Button up your Overcoat.  Okay, well done again and see you next Wednesday
P.S. I will send details of our joint enterprise with the Singing for Fun group nearer the 25th November.

This update allows anybody who signs in to make comments on the website.
I would be grateful if people could observe one or two courtesies.
1.  If you sign yourself in as a virtual being it would be nice if you could let us all know at an early stage who you are in the real world.
2.  Please be aware that although access to making comments is restricted to the group the output is there for the world to see.
3.  Please be kind.  We are all friends who will achieve better things with everybody's support.
4.  Do have fun!

So for the avoidance of any doubt the set list for the Christmas gig is:-

Santa Claus is Coming to Town
Silent Night
White Christmas
Button Up Your Overcoat
Living Doll
Travelling Light
As promised I have put the video clip of Living Doll in a more prominent place on the website.
You'll find it under VIDEO CLIPS
See you all on Wednesday.

I've just this moment changed the title of 'You Belong To Me' to its correct title 'Button Up Your Overcoat'.
You might like to print off the amended version to bring your file up to date.

David Hall sent the following email to the group:-

I think we should all be feeling pretty good with ourselves after todays session. Certainly we should  have no doubts about our ability to give a good performance with our current list of songs.

We do have one more rehearsal before we join the singing group on the 25th, and, I was wondering if we should spend some time looking at ways of relaxing before a performance. Any suggestions anyone?

We need also to look at our seating arrangements.

Well done again.

David.

I'm not sure whether then is any advantage to spending some time as a group together immediately before the performance.  People have different ways to prepare themselves on the day.  For myself I like a time of quiet reflection.

The important things to remember is that nerves are good.  If you have butterflies then that's the buzz of adrenaline, and that is going to help.  In that sense I'm not sure I want to relax before a performance.

As promised Stealiní has gone onto the play list.  While I was about it I put the other two tricky ones on the list, Iíll see you in my dreams, and Sister Josephine.

As promised Iíve also put a video clip of Bob Dylan singing Iíll Be Your Baby Tonight.  This was first released on his LP John Wesley Harding in 1967.  Someone thought it also appeared on a Travelling Willburys CD, but although Bob Dylan was part of the TWs this song does not appear on their set list: - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traveling_Wilburys,  sorry.

Thereís the U3A Anthem which Iíve not put on yet as itís going to involve some typing.

Finally, if youíve visited the comments page on the website youíll have noticed that Iím echoing relevant U3A Newark Ukulele emails on the comments page.  The Page is there for everybody to use, so do feel free.

I've just added another tune, the U3A Anthem.

I've made one or two amendments in order to get it to scan better.

Well after struggling with this monster for a few months I have a new improved version that I hope has got most of the problems licked.
The programme structure has been radically altered.  You wonít see it, as it will work very much the same as usual like the proverbial swan, all grace above water but paddling like fury underneath.

1. Iíve discontinued offering Ďpdfí files as an option.  Admittedly they provide superior copy, but the downside is they are time consuming requiring no less than four files to be created with each new tune.
So sorry, folks, thatís the way it is.

But !   (FANFARE)

2. There is a new feature that will allow members to add their own tunes to the list.
You have to log on and once you have you will notice an additional link on the menu on the left hand side, which reads ĎADD A SONGí.
It explains itself, really.  There are some simple instructions.  Type your song in embedding the chords into the lyric using square brackets. and then press the enter key.
PLEASE check thoroughly before posting it as I am not going to be spending my days correcting files that were entered in error. If you want to alter the script then the ĎAMENDí key will take you back to the previous page. Otherwise click on POST SONG, and the list will be immediately updated.

Good, isnít it?
